How to setup a Payment Gateway (take payment) such as credit card, Paypal, Visa, etc

In order to receive payment for bookings or from selling goods in your Online Store, you need to do two things:

  1. Sign up to an account with a Payment Gateway (such as Stripe or PayPal).  All Payment Gateways that we support are listed in the menu item section: MY SETTINGS > MY BUSINESS – ONLINE STORE.  Select the tab “PAYMENTS“.  Here you will see all supported gateways.  You will need first click the SET UP button next to a payment method. This will take you through the set up process for the payment gateway  of your choice (you can choose as many gateways as you wish, and setup is undertaken on their website, as you will need to create an account with them).  We do not provide documentation on how to set up a particular payment gateway in our Support site, because the Payment Gateway companies all have excellent set up wizards and information, and how to guides on how to set up the gateways on their sites.  NOTE:  WE RECOMMEND using STRIPE, it is arguably the most popular payment gateway online, and one of the easiest to use.  STRIPE supports payment to you via all the popular CREDIT CARDS and DEBIT CARDS.  In addition Stripe can collect payment for you via popular digital wallets such as GOOGLE PAY (GooglePay), ALIPAY (Ali Pay), APPLE PAY (Apple Pay) as well a iDEAL, SEPA and Sofort.
  2. Once you have set up your payment gates of choice, you will then need to enable it on your site.  To do so go to MY SETTINGS > MY BUSINESS – ONLINE STORE.  Select the tab “PAYMENTS“. and then toggle “ENABLED” for the payment method you have previously set up and wish to use.  Note, you can enable and disable pre-set up payment gateways at any time should you decide you do not want to use a particular gateway for a period of time etc.

NOTE:

If you need MORE INFORMATION on how to set up a PARTICULAR PAYMENT GATEWAY, please go to that Gateway’s website and review their support documentation.  Essentially you will need to sign up, often provide personal ID, a bank account you wish to receive your money into (once it has passed through the Gateway).  In return, the Gateway will provide you with a series of PRIVATE/PUBLIC KEYS you will need to enter into the setup process in order to connect your chosen Gateway(s) to your Online Store.

Also note, HONEYCOMB GO DOES NOT CHARGE ANY FEES OR COMMISSIONS on your sales.  YOUR PAYMENT GATEWAY DOES CHARGE A COMMISSION AND A PER TRANSACTION FEE.  This is often in the range of 2.9%-6%, plus say a per transaction fee of $0.30-$0.80+.  The rates depends on your country location and what Gateway you use.  You can find the information on your chosen Payment Gateway website (search for fees/pricing).  Note some Payment Gateway we have do not charge any commission or fees, but these are simple methods: Cash on Delivery, Direct Bank Transfer, Payment by Cheque, etc.  Essentially, all online store transactions globally are transacted through Payment Gateways, and they all charge fees, there is nothing much you can do to get around this fact.  It is a cost of doing business online.  Our suggestion, is you build the potential cost into your goods and services.
