Adding Product Attributes (for Variable Product Creation)

Attributes become useful when you want to create variations of a product.  You can use them on Simple Products, but they are mostly used for Variable products (where you can create variations of an Attribute set, and set different stock numbers and prices for each one).

Basically Attributes are a set of variable values that are generic.  For example, “Small, Medium, Large”, or “5g, 10g, 50g, 100g, 500g”, or “Hot, Warm, Cold”, or “15min, 30min, 45min, or 60min”.

  • To add an Attribute Set, do the following:
    • Go to Online Store > My Products > Add An Attribute
    • Add Your Attribute set: First give it a name, for example, “Size” and click Add Attribute.  Once you have done this, the Attribute will appear in the list, click “Configure terms” next to it.
    • Next, add all the terms you want to assign to that attribute. In our example, we add Name: Small, click save.  Name: Medium, click save.  Name: Large, click save

At this point you have created your Attribute set which you can now use in the creation of any Variable Product or Simple Product etc.
